Philip Norton

Philip Norton is a Consultant Solicitor based in our Cambridge House, Norwich office.  Philip specialises in Charity and Private Client Law, Tax and Succession Planning.   Philip was Partner with the firm and Head of its Private Client Department between 2002 and 2017.

After graduating from Sheffield University and the Guildford College of Law, he qualified in 1984 at Eversheds (then Hill & Perks) and was head of their Private Capital Group covering Norwich, Ipswich and Cambridge; he was also the head of their national Charities Team until joining Hansells in 2002. He is a member of the Charity Law Association and the Society of Trusts and Estate Practitioners.

Philip is a Trustee of a number of well known local charities as well as solicitor to many others; he lectures on Charity Law topics. The advice given to charities ranges from establishment and administration, governance and trading issues, for both national and local concerns, through to trustee liability, risk management and incorporation.  Philip also advises on commercial arrangements with non-charitable bodies.

Philip is married to a hospital consultant and has three adult daughters.  After managing work and his charity commitments his other interests are walking (hills and the dog) and gardening.
